Interesting results.

On Fedora, when I run the demo under Weston, Weston crashes.

On Debian Unstable (in a VM), when I run the demo under Weston, it runs 
and the bouncing ball window is NOT offset.  So it seems that offset issue 
may be specific to gnome-shell.
