Problem with GstDiscoverer on a PNG file

When I run the GstDiscoverer on a PNG image file I get GST_DISCOVERER_ERROR.

So basically I can't create a GESUriClipAsset from a PNG file because
discovery is failing.

Questions ...

   1. Is discovery supposed to fail for image files?
   2. What is the best way to create a GESClip which displays a PNG image
   for a period of time?
