.fdi files and HAL

Is this exclusively the case, or can products of different classes share 
ID's? How is this all managed? Sorry, I am uninitiated in how product 
ID's are shared out. :)

I suppose the only issue of same-class devices is the name of the 
product, but I assume this is in the product name anyway.
