UDF Filesystem recognized as reiserfs

You forgot to tell: you formated this DVD-RAM befor with reiserfs and then 
with UDF.

Two questions:
1.) which program had you used to format with UDF ?
2.) have you tried to use dd to zero the first 64k of the DVD-RAM?

I think this is a bug in the program you used to format with UDF.
