I'm sorry, not a KDE user, but genstef told me once he had some issues.

I'm also having issues with pmount on my gentoo box lately, as the
version I got (0.9.3-r1) is not installed setuid, and it looks like it
should be (gvm output: manager.c/630: executing
command: /usr/bin/pmount-hal /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/volume_uuid_29f38d77_253e_4864_9d4c_5e888e7b76cb
Error: this program needs to be installed suid root)

Check the permissions on your pmount executable?
