If I understand you right, you want to remove the netlink-mount code right now
for hal 0.5.6 ? If so: I would propose to let the code in the next release
and add a configure option or check for kernel >= 2.6.15.
There are maybe many ppl who want to use a new HAL but not a new kernel
version, because there is e.g. no update kernel from for the distribution or
something else. I think it would be nice to be a while backward compatible
(not at runtime, but at least at compile) and remove the code for netlink
later e.g. with hal >= 0.5.7.
