HAL 0.5.2 Specification

It does not seem that the example Python code within the HAL 0.5.2
Specification[1] uses the newest dbus API.  Could someone provide a
proper example?  I can't find any documentation on using this new dbus
API with HAL and the specification example code does not work:

  File "example.py", line 16, in ?
    hal_service = bus.get_service ('org.freedesktop.Hal')
AttributeError: Bus instance has no attribute 'get_service'
