Apologies for a potentially newbie question, but I get the following
when trying to startup 'hald':

*** [DIE] osspec.c:osspec_init():328 : Unable to bind to netlink socket

Running 'hald' through 'strace' I see the following:

socket(PF_NETLINK, SOCK_DGRAM, 15)      = 7
getpid()                                = 6485
bind(7, {sa_family=AF_NETLINK, pid=6485, groups=ffffffff}, 12) = -1
EPERM (Operation not permitted)

Any ideas what's going on here? My initial guess is that the netlink
socket is already in use by some other process, though I can't think
what that might be, or how I could find out.

Thanks for any help you can provide,

Matt.
