osspec_init():328 : Unable to bind to netlink socket

Dear list members,

I can not start hal. I do

/usr/local/sbin/hald --daemon=no --verbose=yes

I installed dbus 0.31 and this appears to be running

ps -aef | fgrep dbus

    rudi      8454     1  0 07:48 ?   dbus-daemon --fork --print-pid 8

Others:
fgrep -i netlink linux-2.6.11.2/.config
    CONFIG_NETLINK_DEV=y


I'll appreciate any hints
