ACPI Temperature zones

Hi,

Is it currently possible to access temperature information through HAL? The 
abstraction would be very handy, since some systems have the information 
avaiable through sensors, while others have it only though ACPI 
(/proc/acpi/thermal_zone/THR[C|M]/temperature on my system).

If not yould it make sense? Are there plans to add this?
