The patch looks good to me - and I think it's great idea to do this...

Now, I wonder if using even a higher-order method would be useful? I
remember using a 7th-order Runge Kutta method back in the day on a
numerical analysis course... but then again, this is ten years ago and I
could be on crack and remember wrong...
