I don't think it'll be too much overhead. The part of it that takes the
most time is hashing the udi (for the hash table lookup) and I don't
expect that to be a very time consuming task, so it sounds like a
reasonable idea.
I'll work something out a bit later this evening. Stay tuned. :-)
