The problem is with the serial class, not the platform bus. So it should
be extended to somehow confirm each device that's given to it. This is
done today for the floppy block devices. We need to investigate if there
is a reliable way to do this though.

I don't think we should exclude legacy serial ports because some people
run with a configuration that gives a high number of devices. As we can
see this old cruft is still present on many modern system.
