HAL 0.5.7 build problem

Make stops with this error:

I have no idea how to solve this.  I'm running Vector Linux SOHO 5.0.1
(based on Slackware 10.1), and I've got kernels 2.4.29 (the kernel for
this version of my distro), 2.6.12, and 2.6.15.6.  The headers in
/usr/include/linux are from 2.4.29.  For configuration to work
properly, I had to edit /usr/include/linux/fs.h, as is advised with a
configure error on BLKGETSIZE64.  After that, configuration went fine.
