David (the maintainer) has to do acknowledge *each* part, and then any
of us can commit.

I think making his job easier is probably a good idea -- he's a busy
guy.
I'm sure he'll agree that it's easier to go through 20 x 70 line patches
(with a simple example and description with each one) than a huge 1400
line patch he's got to cherry-pick the bits that are correct and work
our what each bit does.

I know (from bitter experience) it's easier and quicker to get lots of
smaller patches upstream in HAL than get a large patch "just right" --
but he could prove me wrong of course. :-)
