hal and g-v-m

hi all,
i have gone thru the hal and g-v-m code. from that i got to know that the hal does the data repository and g-v-m does the mounting and unmounting  part.
the udev communicates to hal thru socket and the communication between the hal and g-v-m is done by dbus.is this all right ? can anyone please tell me which document i need to read ,to understand the working of hal and g-v-m in details.
