regarding unmounting

hi all,
i hav gone thru the node creation by udev and then mounting done by hal , g-v-m. can anyone tell me how does the unmounting take place. i mean when i try to eject the usb, how does the unmounting takes place.
i guess it should go to the g-v-m first for unmounting and then to the udev for deleting the node which was created during the insertion of the drive.
