   I sorry that I don't have a good answer to this question.
PalmSource licenses its software and does not actually build
any hardware.  My job is to add a fairly generic interface
to Linux's power management features (including batteries).
I was hoping to use HAL as a way to hide the complexity of
real vendor hardware.
