Using multi-purpose devices

Hi,

perhaps the subject is not fitting very well, but I couldn't think of anything better. What this is about:

I have a mobile phone with cam (the very common Sony Ericcson K750i). When plugged in, HAL would see it as a memory stick pro drive and gnome-volume-manager will show it as a memory stick and ask me if i would like to import photos to my photo management application. This was very nice.

Some time ago, this behavior changed: the K750i was added as a digital media player in one .fdi file. From now on, gnome-volume-manager would not ask me to import photos but rather start my music management application (banshee in this case). Naturally, this is nice, too - but I miss the functionality of importing photos. Disabling the fdi entry in question brings back the photo importing, but naturally my phone is not usable as a mass storage media player in banshee anymore.

Is there a way to get both functionalities? Can this be done by editing the .fdi (my guess was to edit the K750i media player entry to also include some other info but I didn't get it working that way, but perhaps I just did something wrong?) Would be nice if someone could comment and perhaps point me to the changes I have to make. Thanks.
