HAL and Firewire

Hello,

could anyone please explain to me why HAL and firewire devices
don't seem to work together? For instance plugging in a 
DV video camera does not produce an appropriate HAL event.
However there is additional information in the SysFS after
plugging in.

The only action that triggered an appropriate event was 
to load the video1394 kernel module (as opposed to the
the raw1394 module for instance). And the event only
gets triggered once on loading.
