I'll have to think about how to structure things correctly. There are 
other sources I could use to learn about storage, e.g. our scsi driver 
can tell me about fdisk partitions, VTOC slices, labels. That's routine 
and actually what HAL does best: to collect data from disparate sources 
and present in a consistent, portable view.
