Yes, my opinion is that this totally think this belongs in HAL. If
distributions or other people want to either:

a) patch this functionality out
b) lock down the dbus interface to root
c) deny all users on the interface

...then that's easy enough. Get this in CVS after 0.5.9 is released, and
let it cook for a while.
