This is really simple: this mailinglist allow members only to send mails to 
the list. And there is no connection between git commit rights and related 
mailing addresses (in your case slapin at kemper.freedesktop.org) and the 
members subscriped to the list. 

Btw. I added your address to the accepted senders. It should work now.
