I did this test.  Still with kernel #3206.

First, --quirk-s3-mode doesn't hurt things.  I.e.,  X suspend and resume
still works with or without that parameter.

That said, the console is blank and doesn't restore after resume, both
with and without s3-mode.  (With and without chvt through X11.)

Perhaps this gets better in the next kernel 1/2 :-) ?
