Hey,
I've got a Compaq Evo N410c,
I've got installed Debian Linux testing
I added the following lines in
/usr/share/hal/fdi/information/10freedesktop/20-video-quirk-pm-hp.fdi
<match key="system.hardware.product" prefix="Evo">
     <match key="system.hardware.product" prefix="N410c">
          <merge key="power_management.quirk.radeon_off"
type="bool">true</merge>
          <merge key="power_management.quirk.vbe_post"
type="bool">true</merge>
          <merge key="power_management.quirk.vbemode_restore"
type="bool">true</merge>
          <merge key="power_management.quirk.vbestate_restore"
type="bool">true</merge>
     </merge>
</merge>
This worked for me, sorry for my bad english, I hope you're able to work
with the information.
