Any plans for new HAL release?

Yep, it's a release candidate to 0.5.12 which contains major 
improvements and rewrites over 0.5.11. A stable version of a  
distribution will probably not update his HAL package to 0.5.12 but 
prefer following 0.5.11.x branch for serious bugfixes and security 
enhancements but there's no such thing.
