cannot 'git push'

Hi,
I have freedesktop account for commit access, but when I tried to do a
'git push' in the HAL repository, I got the following error:

error: unable to create temporary sha1 filename
./objects/tmp_obj_I4Ed3c: Permission denied

fatal: failed to write object
unpack unpacker exited with error code
ng refs/heads/master n/a (unpacker error)
error: failed to push to 'ssh://vinayb@git.freedesktop.org/git/hal'

Is this a permissions problem in the git repo? Or is it be because I
initially checked out the branch anonymously and then edited
'.git/config'? I'd appreciate any help or pointers.
