Wrong, probing is *always* done.  Turns out some devices with the same
USB IDs don't use the same interface #s as other devices with the same
USB IDs, and some devices use the same USB IDs but are CDMA not GSM.

0.7.1 and later will ignore any device that does not report known
capabilities as a result of a probe.  So further patching of
10-modem.fdi is pretty superfluous.
