I'm afraid I don't understand what you mean. The only occurrence of
this is in a comment:

          <append key="input.keymap.data" type="strlist">e012:brightnessdown</append>   <!-- FnF7 (FnF9 on 6730b) (brightness down) -->
          <append key="input.keymap.data" type="strlist">e017:brightnessup</append>     <!-- FnF8 (FnF10 on 6730b) (brightness up) -->

Changing that comment should have no behavioural change at all, and
the file does not match on any particular product IDs.

Are these keys actually broken for you?
