See Guillem's comment about using sys/cdefs.h from libbsd.
As he told me, this is currently mostly a stub and he is working on a
proper implementation.
That said, I guess it's best to back out this particular patch until
Guillem has finished this work and we can make use of that properly.

Guillem, maybe you can just outline (as you already told me on IRC),
how you'd like to see this issue addressed and what changes it would
require (you talked about modifying CFLAGS and/or patching configure)
