[HarfBuzz] Help with debugging GSUB issues using harfbuzz in Pango 1.26.2

I am invesitgating a  fix for
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=579398, as  this is critical for
Telugu language. I looked into the font differences with Kannada and Hindi
for which this problem does not occur.
I tried with gdb, but could not find  how gsub lookups are being called
under  pango 1.26.2.

Are Indic languages like Telugu fully using the new Harfbuzz like Thai?

Any suggestions on tips for  displaying  the glyphs before and after GSUB?
