I addressed Ville's comments in the v2: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/229684/.
This one dumps [n] bytes at a time, as specified by the user and can do byte writes.

As DK mentioned below, we planned to merge just the Read/Write first and then improve
on that as we move on. So maybe we can make the dump as the default behavior
in the follow up patches ?
