Also, enabling SNA as follows prevent the crash for me:

# cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf 
Section "Device"
    Identifier  "Intel Graphics"
    Driver      "intel"
    Option      "AccelMethod"  "sna"
    Option      "TearFree"    "true"
