            Bug ID: 96671
Summary: Latest INTEL LINUX Mesa driver installer (1.4.0)
causes MATLAB graphics operations to either hang or
produce a java exception on Fedora 23
           Product: Mesa
           Version: 11.1
          Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
                OS: Linux (All)
            Status: NEW
          Severity: critical
          Priority: medium
         Component: Drivers/DRI/i965
          Assignee: idr at freedesktop.org
          Reporter: rick.irons at mathworks.com
        QA Contact: intel-3d-bugs at lists.freedesktop.org

The latest INTEL LINUX Mesa driver installer
(https://01.org/linuxgraphics/downloads/intel-graphics-installer-linux-1.4.0)
causes MATLAB graphics operations to either hang or produce a java exception on
Fedora 23. Commands such as 'surface' and 'penny' will hang when run. The
command 'opengl info' will cause a java exception when run. The issue can be
avoided by setting the environment variable LIBGL_DRI3_DISABLE to 'true' prior
to starting MATLAB (Why this works is not understood and an explanation
regarding why this avoids the issue and if it is a valid workaround would be
appreciated).

The 3.0 Mesa 11.0.3 Intel Open Source Technology Center driver that comes with
Fedora 23 does not encounter the issue. I was able to recreate the issue on a
Lenovo T450s ThinkPad with Intel HD Graphics 5500.
