Hello Elizabeth,
seems reproducible, just tried it again and it hung again:

Mesa and xorg versions:

Package: mesa-opencl-icd
Version: 17.2.2-0ubuntu1

Package: xserver-xorg-core
Version: 2:1.19.5-0ubuntu2

As far as i can say, 7DaysToDie seems to be the only game where this happens.
Gnome3 window manager "Mutter" is also crashing often when i try to start the
game.
