<pre>This sounds like your GPU hung and didn't recover. IIRC, the 3.2 kernel did
not have working GPU reset, so once something crashed, nothing could use it
again.
Modern kernels have working GPU reset which should avoid this problem.
Modern versions of Mesa also have critical bug fixes that fix 965GM GPU hangs.
Presuming fixed; feel free to reopen if you still experience this issue with a
newer Mesa and Kernel.</pre>
