i just wanted to add that this happened to me in the last few days after an
intel driver update on debian testing (stretch) running the current gnome 3.20
desktop
if i log out and switch to a wayland session the bug completely disappears and
life is back to normal fast scrolly land
this is on a thinkpad t420 with intel graphics (3000 series i believe)</pre>
