Where did you see internal format GL_RGBA8_EXT used?
For me this looks like application would like to have alpha but is passing
wrong enum GL_COMPRESSED_RGB_S3TC_DXT1_EXT instead of
GL_COMPRESSED_RGBA_S3TC_DXT1_EXT.</pre>
