Ok, looks like we are starting to get somewhere. So the console is completely
blank until X starts? That suggests we are not picking the right mode or have a
training failure. Can you please attach a dmesg from boot with drm.debug=6 on
the commandline?

As for the mode failure in X, it appears to be due to this conflict:

If I remember correctly hsync, vrefresh ranges should be specified by the EDID,
but you may be able to override with a monitor section in xorg.conf.
