dmesg running 3.5.0-19.30 (ubuntu kernel)

Here is the dmesg of 3.5.0

That means I can boot into a 3.5.0 kernel with a working network (and
keyboard). I have no idea what happened with my previous (failed) attempts to
boot 3.5.0

However, it does not mean that this bug report can be closed, because the
system will crash (there is an OOPS) as soon as I log into Unity. XFCE seems to
be working though.

Let me dig into it further and I report my progress in the comments. I'll see
if I can get it to OOPS again.
