Priority: medium
Bug ID: 73061
Assignee: chris at chris-wilson.co.uk
Summary: Regression: external displayport monitor not detected
on GM45 (gen4) intel graphics
QA Contact: intel-gfx-bugs at lists.freedesktop.org
Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
Reporter: sergio.callegari at gmail.com
Hardware: Other
Status: NEW
Version: 7.7 (2011)
Component: Driver/intel
Product: xorg
Running on a DELL E6500 Laptop. Using intel graphics stack as distributed with
ubuntu saucy (13.10) 64 bit (in fact kubuntu).
This means
3.11.0 kernel + ubuntu patches
(but tested also with vanilla 3.12.6 with the same issue)
xorg-server-video-intel 2.99.904
mesa 9.2.1
libdrm 2.4.46
Issue is the following.
1) Laptop on.
2) Connect an external monitor via displayport
-> the external monitor is detected.
3) Suspend laptop
4) Detach external monitor
5) Resume laptop after some time and immediately attach external monitor via
display port or attach external monitor via displayport
-> the external monitor is NOT DETECTED, xrandr only shows the laptop panel
This is a regression with respect to older ubuntu raring graphics stack, where
the external monitor on displayport was always detected.
Note that after point 5) the system logs report
[drm] HPD interrupt storm detected on connector DP-3: switching from hotplug
detection to polling
which may be relevant.
Also note that after point 5)
6) Wait a couple of minutes
7) Detach external monitor
8) Wait a couple of minutes
9) Attach the external monitor
makes the external monitor detected.
