Martins, please try the attached patch. Do *not* use i915.invert_brigthness=1
module parameter when you try it.

The patch should fix the issue on the particular machine reported in comment
#35. Anyone having a backlight issue that i915.invert_brigthness=1 fixes,
please report 'lspci -vmmnn' along with the vendor and model of the machine.
