Yes,

root at alanz-laptop:~# echo 649450 >
/sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness
root at alanz-laptop:~# echo 2649450 >
/sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness

behaves as expected. The second value comes from

root at alanz-laptop:~# cat
/sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/max_brightness
2649450
