A few questions:
- Does this still happen on latest drm-intel-nightly from
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/~danvet/drm-intel ?
- Does this only happen when you try to light up a 3-pipe configuration, or can
it also happen when only using a single display (but with the same physical
configuration)? You might want to set up a scripted loop with xrandr to
enable/disable the screen a few times. Would be rather interesting if this
changes the failure rate.
If you do the single-screen configuration stress-testing, please make sure that
you select the same crtc as with the 3 pipe configuration. You can see the crtc
of a given config with
xrandr --verbose
and set it with --crtc <num>
