So this error still happens on kernel 3.10.0-16.

This was a regression (it was working for us before), I'm not sure how bad
reverting this commit would be for the users this patch affects. That being
said, for us, this commit made our graphic card unusable. If we remove the
commit, how bad does it affect the other users?

Since fixing this issue is taking a long time, wouldn't it be possible to
remove the commit completely? I mean, for us, this is killing the graphic card
with no option of getting it to work unless we manually patch the kernel.
