I only wonder why Daniel reverted commit
57c219633275c7e7413f8bc7be250dc092887458 when the hack was "fixing" a real
thing rather than fixing the underlying problem. I guess that this is hardware
specific and the only way to deal with it is through quirks (hence the revert,
which uncovers the bug for many people that are now here to report the needed
hardware details).
