And now it's back, after I installed a new version of the driver. (Well, the
window border corruption is back; I haven't had any crashes, but didn't test
for long.) Git bisect tells me that the first bad commit is, unsurprisingly:

sna: Re-enable read-read optimisations
Coacher is optimistic that the issue is no longer reproducible on his
machine - and whilst I do not understand the root cause, I am confident
that the kernel code is correct as is our use.
