Ok, this is a bug with the asus wmi driver, it should not register a defunct
backlight control. You can work around with in your xorg.conf with the
backlight option (pls check the intel manpage).

Reassigning to acpi, though I wouldn't put much hope - the asus wmi seems to be
pretty unmaintained :(
