That's impossible! The cursor position is always in absolute coordinates, and
so always has a fixed offset.... I guess there is an active pointer grab on
the remote X server -- very bizarre.
One minor change wrt to cursor handling:

Can you try running intel-virtual-output under gdb or valgrind (will need to
use -f) and see if that catches anything?
