--- Comment #128 from Vladyslav Shtabovenko <DFEW.Entwickler at gmail.com> ---
Recently I tried FreeBSD 10 Beta 2. KMS is not enabled by default on Gen2 but
all the ingredients are there. However if one tries to activate i915kms and
start X.Org ("kldload i915kms && startx"), all you get is a black screen

....
info: [drm] Supports vblank timestamp caching Rev 1 (10.10.2010).
info: [drm] Driver supports precise vblank timestamp query.
info: [drm] failed to find VBIOS tables
drmn0: taking over the fictitious range 0xe0000000-0xe7fff000
info: [drm] initialized overlay support
stray irq7
No connectors reported connected with modes
info: [drm] Cannot find any crtc or sizes - going 1024x768
info: [drm] Initialized i915 1.6.0 20080730
pid 1283 (Xorg), uid 0: exited on signal 6 (core dumped)

Without KMS (i.e. i915 driver only) everything works fine. So I guess that if
the devs won't throw the non-KMS Intel drivers out, I could keep using FreeBSD
on the old Thinkpad X30. Even though using Linux would be way better ;)
